It’s been a busy day, not that days nearing Christmas are supposed to be long and boring. Just today seemed like a hard one get my arms around. Today seemed to be “Tackle the Little Things” day – I ticked of many of those nagging issues that have been on my “to do” list for a while. For instance, I finally — FINALLY — cleaned off the top of the bookcase near the window in my home office. Not that it was a hard job. It was just one of those “this can wait” things that never was completed.
Otherwise, my visits and telephone calls went well. I did schedule a number of visits for the rest of the week and the early part of next. I probably could have pushed back two of them until after Christmas, but I didn’t.
Right now, I am sitting in my office trying to figure out if I need to fix up my homily for tonight’s Advent Midweek service. To be honest, I am listening to Cousin Brucie on Sirius XM, 60s on 6. I grew up listening to Cousin Brucie on WCBS-FM (my father is a fan). Since he went over to Sirius, I haven’t taken much time to listen to the Cuz. Tonight seemed like a nice time to listen to the 60s while getting ready for church.
Also starting in about an hour is the Battle for New York — the Islanders invade Madison Square Garden to play the Rangers. I am a little concerned about the state of the Rangers and I would not be surprised if they get smacked around tonight. Or even tomorrow when they head out to the Island to finish off this back to back series. I’ll miss the first period and probably part of the second period.
Time to get up.
